A key figure in Geneva's public life, Me Robert Hensler has distinguished himself through his unwavering commitment to institutions and the law. Robert Hensler specializes in administrative and business law, as well as tax law, international law and mergers and acquisitions. He advises and represents private and public clients, including foreign governments. He has a thorough understanding of the workings of federal, cantonal and municipal administrations. In parallel with his work as a lawyer, Robert Hensler is Chairman of TotalEnergies Gestion Internationale SA and sits on the boards of companies and foundations active in real estate management, catering and chocolate production, education, medicine, housing and finance.
Me Robert Hensler works in French, English, German and Italian. He regularly works in Chinese with the help of an interpreter.
1979
Robert Hensler is a member of the Geneva Bar.
From 1979 to 1981, he served as legal counsel to the Fédération des Entreprises Romandes (FER), after having been admitted to the Geneva Bar. He then joined the State of Geneva, as Director of Legal Affairs for the Department of Public Economy. In this position, he was responsible for setting up foreign companies in Geneva, labor relations and Palexpo, the international exhibition and convention center.
1993
In 1993, the State Council of the Republic and Canton of Geneva appointed him State Chancellor. The government renewed his mandate three times. In 2009, Me Robert Hensler gave up a fifth term of office to return to the bar. During his sixteen years at the top of the State, he acquired a detailed knowledge of public administration, as well as numerous political contacts at the highest level and relays in Bern, Switzerland's federal capital.
2009
In 2009, he joined the organizing committee of the Geneva International Motor Show, the world's largest annual event, of which he had been a member from 1990 to 1993.
2010
In 2010, Robert Hensler joined Kaiser Böhler, one of Geneva's leading law firms. He joins Fontanet et Associés in 2012 as a partner until January 2024.
2024
Since February 1, 2024, Robert Hensler has been a partner in the NOMEA law firm, which operates in the cantons of Geneva, Bern and Fribourg. He represents the interests of foreign states, multinational and Swiss companies, as well as leading Swiss and foreign personalities.
